“Zephy”

Zephyros is a Melges 24 (Hull No. 513) based out of Newport, Rhode Island. The boat is named after the Greek god of the western wind. In a previous life, it was "Lightwave" and was campaigned along with two sister ships. However, after the class dwindled, Lightwave was put away in a field in Bristol, RI and forgotten about. In 2016, its current owner found and purchased it without really understanding its potential. A bit of cleaning and elbow grease and it came back to life. It received a complete overhaul in 2020-2021 and is regularly found in the thick of it with notable victories in the Ida Lewis Distance Race and Sail for Hope among others.
